Decision

I watched cows grazing in a meadow
  last night at sunset
Until the red warm glow was gone
  from over the dark hills,
And all the while a gray ground-owl
  somewhere in the dusk
Made articulate a vast melancholy.

Before it became too dark I wrote
  this in a notebook:
"Sadness and happiness are twin
  sisters in identical blue dresses
  with white collars,
And tho one smiles and one be
pensive, who in all the world
  can say their names?"
